Glory is the daughter of Ginger. Her mum is a Brown Swiss x Jersey and her dad is a Guernsey x Jersey cross; she has inherited their big ears!
Glory will stay with her mum until she is approx 3/4 months old. Then she will begin the weaning process. This means she will spend the night with other calves her age and then will go back to her mum after milking for her daily milk feed.
Calves start to form their own social groups by about 6/8 weeks and spend more time with other calves than with their mums. They find their mum at feeding time then it’s off to play with Wurst and the other calves
Glory will come into the milking herd when she has her first calf this will be when she is approximately 2 years old.
Why sponsor a calf?
By sponsoring one of our calves you will be helping our efforts to create a much better farming system where calves can live a far more natural life growing up with their mums and friends. You’ll be able to follow her journey from calf to adult life
What will I get?
A photo of Glory
Certificate of sponsorship
Two updates a year (spring and autumn) via email with pictures and video.
Upgrade to Dora’s Club and a chance to meet your sponsored calf and all her friends on our annual open day in August
Hi Sarah and Jon I wanted to let you know just how much we enjoyed the meat I bought from you last week. We had the fillet steaks on Saturday and Oh my goodness! it was literally like slicing through butter and each mouthful was sensational. These fillets really were packed full of flavour and knowing where they came from and how well they had been raised and care for meant that we ate and enjoyed them with a clear conscience. We will be back for more that's for sure.
My 18 month old son and i had a wonderful time touring Doras's Dairy Jon and Sarah are very knowledgeable , approachable and friendly. We were impressed with how welcomed we were to explore! first thing we did was go see the cows up close. My toddler loved giving them treats and laughed every time they licked his hand. We Watched them being milked and learned about the benefits of raw milk. My son walked around with the chickens, played with the lovely dogs and patted a huge bull through the safety of the pen bars. We had a really lovely time and we both loved being so close and hands on with the farm animals. I felt that it was a wonderful learning experience and I would highly recommend it. We will definitely be doing it again. Jessie and Leon
